"When men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born unto them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them that they chose, then the Lord said,

"'My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days will be a hundred and twenty years.'" (Genesis 6: 1-3)

We have now reached a time period in the Bible where we find that the human race had just experience some type of great population explosion.

Although the first commandment from the Lord at this time, had commanded mankind to be fruitful and multiply, there were some major issues that men were doing that didn't please the Lord?

It seems that mankind had broken every command that the Lord had placed before them during this time and had completely turned away from the one true God.

Note: These commandments didn't have anything to do with the 'Ten Commandments,' being that this time period happen before the 'Great Exodus.' So therefore, the Ten Commandments according to the scriptures, weren't in play at this time.

So what commandments did they break? I believe that these commandments were still enforced from the time that Adam and Eve were banished from the, 'Garden of Eden.'

I'm making this claim, being that Cain and Able were still following some type of commandments that were laid out from the Lord when it came to their offerings. It was these commandments that Cain had broken, which caused God to rebuke him for not being in obedience when it came to what type of offering he should had offered.

Now these men that were causing moral corruption and wickedness in the world were descendants that came from the family lineage of Cain. Keep in mind that Cain was banished from the land and was marked by God, because he murdered his brother Abel.

After this had happen, Cain started his own family and it's believed that these corrupt and wicked men came from Cain's seed. Now the daughters of these men were called the 'daughters of men.' They were given this title, because it is likely that they were morally corrupt and wicked just like their fathers were.

So what about these 'sons of God,' who were they? These men came from the family lineage of Seth, who was born unto Adam and Eve a little after Abel had been killed by Cain. The Bible states that after Seth was born and he had a son named Enosh, then men began to call on the name of the Lord.

Now it was these men who came from this family lineage that were called the 'sons of God.' These men weren't morally corrupt or wicked, they fellowship with the Lord, and they tried to do right in a way that would please the Almighty.

It was these 'sons of God' who saw that the 'daughters of men' were very fair and beautiful. So they decided to marry them and have children with them. This was the first error that was made by these 'sons of God?'

It was wrong for them to marry and mix with people who did not hold the same beliefs as they did. By marrying these 'daughters of men,' they allowed moral corruption and wickedness to enter into their homes.

Eventually these 'sons of God' would find themselves practicing and adopting these morally corrupt and wicked behaviors. It's hard for people to understand that wickedness will lead the good away from its path, before the good will be able to bring the wicked ones from theirs.

There are some Bible scholars and experts that believe that these 'sons of God' were indeed 'fallen angels?' They believe that these 'fallen angels' took and married these, 'daughters of men' and had children with them.

But this goes against with what Jesus had said:

"At the resurrection people will neither marry or be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven." (Matthew 22:30)

Also, this goes against with what God had did during the creation process:

God had everything He created to reproduce after its own kind. Keep in mind that humans and angels are two very different kinds of creatures, it would be impossible for the two to be able to reproduce.

Now the Lord God announced that man is flesh (corrupt, sensual and carnal minded) and His Spirit will not always strive with man, for his days will be one-hundred and twenty years.

If you were to take the time that this scripture was placed and from the time that the flood actually happened, you will only count about one-hundred years.

But it's believed that this scripture was placed out of order so that the genealogy of this account could be completed. This is why when you go to the eleventh verse in that same chapter, which would be about twenty years later from this record, you will find the account being mentioned again within its correct spot.
