Noah's Ark

Forty Days & Forty Nights

"Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made."

(Bible Study Online Article Covers: Genesis 7:4-24)

The Seven Day Window

After Noah had finished building the Ark, God at this time informs Noah that he will send the "Great Flood of Judgment" within seven days.

Understand that Noah had already completed so much when it came to building the Ark. But there was still more work that had to be done; and God just notify Noah, that he had seven more days left to finish "Project Ark."

Let's take a quick look at the events that happen during this seven day window? First, we are told that God had sent the specific type of animals that He wanted saved from this Great Flood of Judgment to the Ark. Meanwhile, Noah would settle his family into the Ark and guide the animals that God had sent to their proper habitats within the Ark.

"Take with you seven of every kind of clean animal, a male and it's mate, and two of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, and also seven of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth." (Genesis 7: 2-3)

Noah -- A King?

Noah did all the things that God had commanded him to do. For he was a man of great faith and demonstrated it by building the Ark without seeing one rain cloud. Noah settled his family and the animals without any signs that a mighty storm was coming and he did all that he did through faith and obedience towards the Lord.

Note: There's some speculation that Noah had to be some type of king who ordered thousands of men to build the Ark for him.

Noah -- A King -- My Thoughts?

Now, I do not agree with this assessment and the only reason why I'm typing it in the first place, is because this is what most experts are claiming. There are a few reasons why I'm in disagreement with this point of view:

First: If Noah was a king of some sort, the Bible would have recorded him as a king like it does for the rest of the individuals within its passages.

Second: People seem to forget that one hundred and twenty years had passed from the time that God had given Noah the blueprints and from the time it took for him to finish the Ark. One hundred and twenty years God gave him? I don't know about you... but there's a lot you could do in that span of time.

Third: Why would God allow thousands of laborers to perish in the Great Flood after they had been obedient to Noah when it came to building the Ark? This would not have happen, they would have been saved too.

Six Hundred Years Old?

The Scriptures have now informed us, that Noah was six hundred years old when the Great Flood of Judgment came upon the earth. Now this would put the Great Flood of Judgment account at being around one thousand-six hundred and fifty-six years from the time that God had created Adam.

The Scriptures also states, that this had happen in the second month, the seventeenth day of that month. Now at that time the second month would have been November. Now if this was the case, Noah would have just completed his final harvest for that year.

The Fatal -- Forty Days & Forty Nights

Next we are informed that the fountains of the great deep were broken up and the floodgates of heaven had open up and started pouring down upon the earth.

The rained came so heavy and fast that the clouds could not hold true to the task; and they were torn open and dispersed by the force of the storms. It rained upon not just part, but the whole entire earth without interruption.

Oh, how fatal these forty days and forty nights were, for God had turned the waters that were once so useful and nourishing towards humanity, into a thunderous plague of punishment that was now working against it.

The Earth Stayed Flooded -- For 150 Days?

The water levels continue to gradually increase, in return lifting the Ark along with it. As the water levels rose so did the Ark while everything else perished just like the Lord had warned.

The Scriptures states, that the waters rose so high that all of the mountains under the heavens were covered by at least twenty feet.

Everything that had nostrils and breathed were wiped from the face of the earth, nothing survived outside of Noah and his family along with the animals that resided inside the Ark.

The Scriptures also informs us, that although it rained for forty days and forty nights, the earth stayed flooded and the waters did not recede until after one hundred and fifty days had passed.
