MacDonald Hamba's Bible Devotions
"Seek the true faith, by all manner of means, but do not spend a whole life in finding it, lest you be like a workman who wastes the whole day in looking for his tools."
Seeking God First
Matthew 6:33 states: "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."
You know, there are times where I find myself sitting back and reflecting on the things that we do as humans. For instance, there was a moment where I was thinking how interesting it was that we as human beings, at times, seek to be rewarded for the things that we hope to achieve in our lives. Now notice how I used the phrase "hope to achieve?" For I find it intriguing that for some, they hope that their rewards are given to them before the actual achievements.
Isn't it fascinating that people expect to be praised for achieving nothing in their lives.
For it's all about instant gratification, being able to be pleased instantly.
It's this kind of thinking that has many of us expecting to receive some type accolade, before we've really done anything to deserve them.
Now I hope that you would excuse me for the brief rant, for I know that this is a topic that many people don't care to hear.
But I simply wanted you to know that the Word of God teaches us to be first diligent, when it comes to seeking Him.
The Word of God also teaches us, that all the good things that we desire, will be eventually given unto us by the Hand of God.
But we have to learn how to be patient when it comes to the Lord and His blessings. Know that our Heavenly Father is faithful, when it comes to His promises. Also know that He doesn't contradict Himself either.
My brothers and sisters, I encourage you to seek God in all of His righteousness. And also know that by doing so, that we'll be continually blessed and fulfilled. I Hope you have been blessed by the reading this short devotion, and I pray that you will continue to seek God and all of His glory - Amen.
