Jesus Walking on WaterFree Bible Coloring Pages - Exciting Bible Characters - The Idea Behind it:This illustration deals with the Sacred Record that mentionsone of the many miracles that was performed by our Lord andSavior Jesus Christ. "Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. "Now when evening came, He was alone there. But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary. Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, 'It is a ghost!' And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, 'Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.' "And Peter answered Him and said, 'Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.' So He said, 'Come.' And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, 'Lord, save me!' "And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, 'O you of little faith, why did you doubt?' And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, 'Truly You are the Son of God.'" (Matthew 14:22-33)

Elijah and the Fire Contest Between God & BaalFree Bible Coloring Pages - Exciting Bible Characters - The Idea Behind it:This illustration deals with the Sacred Record that involves the prophet Elijah challenging the prophets of Baal, to a fire contest on the top of Mt. Carmel. Elijah called the people that were watching over to his area. The prophet began by repairing an old altar that was built and dedicated to the Lord sometime ago, since it was now in ruins. Elijah repairs the altar by using twelve stones and each stone would be a representation, in regards to the twelve tribes of Israel. After doing this, Elijah proceeded to dig a three foot wide trench around the altar. This trench would be able to hold twelve barrels of sea water. Next he would arrange the wood and the offering and had the people pour four large jars of water onto the wood and the offering and around the altar. Next, Elijah would pray to the one true God. "At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: 'O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all of these things at your command. Answer me, O Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, O Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again." (1 Kings 18:36,37) Then immediately the fire had fell from the heavens and brunt up the offering and the wood along with the twelve stones and water that had surrounded the altar. After seeing this, the people fell on their knees and proclaimed that Elijah's God is the one true God!

The Prophet From Judah & King JeroboamFree Bible Coloring Pages - Exciting Bible Characters - The Idea Behind it:This illustration deals with the Sacred Record that involves the prophet from Judah and the first king of the Northern Kingdom Jeroboam. God sends a message to Jeroboam about his idolatry, through the prophet that God called out of Judah "O altar, altar! This is what the Lord says: 'A son named Josiah will be born to the house of David, On you he will sacrifice the priest of the high places who now make offerings here, and human bones will be burned on you.' That same day the man of God gave a sign: "This is the sign the Lord has declared: The altar will be split apart and the ashes on it will be poured out." (1 Kings 13:2-3) After Jeroboam had heard the message from the prophet, the king stretched out his hand and pointed to the prophet of God, after doing so Jeroboam gave the order for his guards to seize the prophet and arrest him. But immediately after the king had given this order, his hand had shriveled up to where he could not withdraw it back. Because of his new affliction that was brought against him, Jeroboam pleaded with the prophet and pleaded for him to pray to the one true God, so his hand could be restored. The prophet from Judah would humble himself and decided to pray on Jeroboam's behalf. The prophet prayed that the king's hand would be restored. After the prophet from Judah had finished his prayer, God immediately restored Jeroboam's hand.

David the VictoriousFree Bible Coloring Pages - Exciting Bible Characters - The Idea Behind it:This illustration deals with the reputation that David had earned, when it came to being a great war general. Here are a few scriptures to consider: "Whatever Saul sent him to do, David did it so successfully that Saul gave him a high rank in the army. This pleased all the people, and Saul's officers as well. "When the men were returning home after David had killed the Philistine, the women came out from all the towns of Israel to meet King Saul with singing and dancing, with joyful songs and with tambourines and lutes. "The women sang as they played, and said, 'Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands.'" (1 Samuel 18:5-7) "So he sent David away from him and gave him command over a thousand men, and David led the troops in their campaigns. In everything he did he had great success, because the Lord was with him. When Saul saw how successful he was, he was afraid of him. But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he led them in their campaigns. (1 Samuel 18:15-17)

Deborah the Judge and Barak: Now Is The Time To Attack!Free Bible Coloring Pages - Exciting Bible Characters - The Idea Behind it:This illustration deals with Deborah and her war commander Barak, while they were on the top of Mt. Tabor. This is the moment right before Barak was to lead his ten thousand men into battle against Sisera and his infamous nine-hundred iron chariots. The men that Barak was leading came from the tribes of Naphtali and Zebulun: "Then Deborah said to Barak, 'Up! For this is the day in which the Lord has delivered Sisera into your hand. Has not the Lord gone out before you?' "So Barak went down from Mount Tabor with ten thousand men following him. And the LORD routed Sisera and all his chariots and all his army with the edge of the sword before Barak; and Sisera alighted from his chariot and fled away on foot." (Judges 4:14,15)

Prophet Elisha Splits the River JordanFree Bible Coloring Pages - Exciting Bible Characters - The Idea Behind it:This illustration deals with the scene in which Elisha splits the River Jordan right after he was promoted by the Almighty, to master prophet. This happened right after God, had taken his master, Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind with a fire chariot, and fire horses. The splitting of the River Jordan was a sign from God that showed Elisha and the student prophets that were watching on the other side of the Jordan; that Elisha had acquired the approval and authority from the Heavenly Father to continue on, in Elijah's footsteps, when it came to the earthly ministry that the prophet had left behind: "Then he took the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and struck the water, and said, 'Where is the Lord God of Elijah?' And when he also had struck the water, it was divided this way and that; and Elisha crossed over." (2 Kings 2:14)

Samson the Judge of IsraelFree Bible Coloring Pages - Exciting Bible Characters - The Idea Behind it:This illustration deals with Samson the twelfth judge of Israel. Samson name means "little sun" and he was born in the city of Zorah which was located between Dan and Judah. His father was Manoah and his mother is unnamed; but the Scriptures inform us that she was barren, and so therefore she couldn't bear kids on her own. Samson's mother was visited by an angel, who told her that although she was barren, she would conceive and bear herself a son. This pre-birth angelic promise would place Samson's mother an elite group of women who themselves, also had a pre-birth angelic promise. This group would included Sarah the mother of the great patriarch Isaac, Elisabeth the mother of John the Baptist, and Mary the mother of our blessed Saviour Jesus Christ. Samson's mother was instructed not to drink wine nor strong drink and not to eat anything unclean. When it came to Samson, she was instructed not to cut his hair and was informed, that he would be a Nazarite from birth. The angel's emphasis on Samson being a Nazarite would let Samson's mother know, that he must keep the vow of the Nazarites from day one. This vow dealt with Samson not being able to touch wine nor strong drink. It dealt with him not being able to cut his hair and he was not permitted to go near a dead body. Samson was appointed judge while Israel was being oppressed by the Philistines and this oppression would last for forty years before Samson's appointment. After Samson was appointed judge, Israel would enjoy a twenty year period of peace while they were under his leadership. His account begins with the thirteenth chapter and runs through the sixteenth chapter from within the Book of Judges.

Elisha the Miracle ProphetFree Bible Coloring Pages - Exciting Bible Characters - The Idea Behind it:This illustration deals with Elisha who studied under the Master Prophet Elijah before he had succeeded him, after the Lord had taken Elijah up in a whirlwind and a chariot of fire. Notice how I added "Master" to the title of Elijah? I've done this, for we must understand that Elijah was indeed the Master Prophet that was over at least three Prophet Academy Schools; which were located in Gilgal, Bethel and Jericho. All the students, which included Elisha referred to him as "Master." On another note? It's very possible that these Prophet Academy's were originally founded by the prophet Samuel? Now when it comes to Elisha; he was the son of Shaphat and came from the rich meadow-lands that was located four miles south of Beth-shean which was called Abel-meholah. Now although Elisha trained under Elijah, their ministry would be very different from each other? For Elijah's ministry had a strong judgment and punishment feel to it, and so therefore his miracles and actions would be a reflection of that. When it came to Elisha's ministry, he had more of a mercy and grace approach, and so therefore his miracles and actions was a reflection of the two. With the exception of Jesus and perhaps Moses, there wasn't a person that God used so mightily when it came to performing miracles. Because of this, Elisha would earn the title and reputation of being known as "The Miracle Prophet." This illustration deals with Elisha spending some meditation time with God in the fields along with a friend. The account of Elisha's ministry starts at (2 Kings 2:14)

David the HeroicFree Bible Coloring Pages - Exciting Bible Characters - The Idea Behind it:This illustration deals with David before he took over the throne of Israel. David had always been heroic and courageous even before he had taken on the Philistines champion -- The Mighty Goliath. While Goliath had stood before the army of Israel and taunted them for forty days, it was clear that no one was willing to go out and face the Giant of Gath when it came to a one on one matchup? And why would they? For we must understand that Goliath was a massive man, being that he had huge girth and stood close to ten feet tall. It wouldn't be until David, the son of Jesse and the youngest of eight boys was bringing his brothers some food, for they served in Israel's army under the Israel king Saul -- that Goliath would receive the challenge that he had been daring the Israelites to make for the past forty days. David at this point in his life had already been anointed to be the next Israel king after Saul. But until then, he would serve under Saul, and at this moment in time, he was serving as Saul's armor bearer and a musician in his court. But David was brave and was very confident in himself, for he had prior to this moment had slewed a lion and a bear while tending to his father's flocks. So David went out with just a sling and five smooth stones and slewed the Mighty Goliath; while becoming a hero in the process. David would go on and have a very celebrated military career while he served under Saul; and would later on, become the greatest King that Israel had ever known. This illustration is a young David enjoying the moment of just being appreciated and celebrated some time later on after he had slewed the Mighty Goliath. This account can be found at the seventeenth chapter within the book of 1 Samuel.

Deborah the Judge & Barak the CommanderFree Bible Coloring Pages - Exciting Bible Characters - The Idea Behind it:This illustration deals with the account of Deborah and Barak. Their story can be found in the Book of Judges, which is also known as -- The Judges Stage, if you were to look at this from a studying perspective. The Judges Stage begins at the Book of Judges; and runs through the Book of Ruth; and includes the first seven chapters, when it comes to the Book of 1 Samuel. From within this stage, you'll find the accounts that deal with fourteen to fifteen judges? Now don't get confused, for you must understand that the Book of Judges list only twelve official Israel judges. ********** I'll also like to point out, that the other two official Israel judges -- Eli and Samuel -- have their accounts listed separately in -- The Book of 1 Samuel. Eli -- "When he mentioned the ark of God, Eli fell backward off his chair by the side of the gate. His neck was broken and he died, for he was an old man and heavy. He had judged Israel forty years." (1 Samuel 4:18) Samuel -- "Samuel continued as judge over Israel all the days of his life. From year to year he went on a circuit from Bethel to Gilgal to Mizpah, judging Israel in all those places. But he always went back to Ramah, where his home was, and there he also judged Israel. And he built an altar there to the Lord." (1 Samuel 7:15-17) ********** The reason why I mention a possible fifteenth judge? Deals with the fact, that some Bible teachers and leaders teach that Barak was himself -- a judge? But this viewpoint would be incorrect, for the Scriptures clearly state, that he helped and assisted Deborah when it came to the business of warfare. For he was the commander of her army and not a judge. Barak had led Deborah's army to victory against Sisera and his 900 iron chariots of Canaan. The reason why Deborah needed to use him in this type of capacity, is for the mere fact -- that armies weren't considered intimidating, respected or feared if a woman were to lead them into battle. Now, when it comes to Deborah, there's not much known about this extraordinary woman. But, what we do know, is that she was sweet in nature but sharp and courageous when it came to facing her opposition. She was a strong God fearing woman in mind and spirit that was wise and fearless in spite of the challenges she faced. Deborah was the only Israel judge that was a woman and one out of two that held the office of both judge and prophet. The other one was the prophet Samuel. It's possible that the Israelites went to her not only for government and civil type matters, but also for spiritual ones as well. She was totally dedicated to Israel, as she held the positions as both prophet and judge... faithfully and diligently during one of the most oppressed times in Israel's history. The account of Deborah and Barak, can be found in the fourth and fifth chapters within the Book of Judges.

The Mighty GoliathFree Bible Coloring Pages - Exciting Bible Characters - The Idea Behind it:This illustration is based off the story of David & Goliath. Goliath was a giant Philistine warrior that stood around ten feet tall. It was during a time when Israel was at war with the Philistines in the Valley of Elah. Goliath was the warrior that the Philistines had used to intimidate and taunt the Israel army. Because of his size, Saul the Israel king and his men were very afraid of him. This taunting and intimidation would carry on for forty days, before David comes on the scene. At this point in his life, David was a young shepherd boy who entered into king Saul's service as an armor-bearer. This is a very powerful story, being that it teaches us that we shouldn't shy away from the challenges that we are to be faced with as life goes on -- and it doesn't matter if those challenges could be as big as Goliath was when he came into David's life. This account can be found in (1 Samuel 17:1-58)

Moses and the Burning BushFree Bible Coloring Pages - Exciting Bible Characters - The Idea Behind it:This illustration is based off the story of Moses. The burning bush would come into play after he had spent the last forty years in hiding, as a shepherd in Midian. During his stay in Midian, he would marry a woman named Zipporah the daughter of Jethro. Moses had entered into this stage, after he had spent the first forty years of his life living as a prince in the Egyptian palace. But he would have to flee from this point in his life, since he had accidentally killed an Egyptian that was beating on a Hebrew slave. You can find this account in (Exodus 3:1-10)

Lucifer the Fallen OneFree Bible Coloring Pages - Exciting Bible Characters - The Idea Behind it:This illustration is based off the story that deals with the most powerful angel that was created by the hand of God. First let me point out, that this was very daring on my part to have this illustration drawn up on Lucifer. For his existence is doubted not only by the world, but also by some church leaders and Bible teachers as well. This is very interesting being that his existence is echoed and declared throughout the scriptures. He's been mentioned some seven times in the Old Testament and some nineteen times in the New Testament. I for one, can't see how a person who studies the Word of God seriously, could ever doubt the existence of Lucifer (Satan). To ignore his account, is to ignore one of the most powerful testaments to just how priceless the human being really is. Understand, that he was the most powerful and beautiful angel that was ever created and yet - he was jealous of us. So much so, he tried to rise up against the eternal kingdom. His foolish attempt to try to overthrow God, because of the tremendous value He poured into us -- caused him to lose his highly esteemed position from within eternity and to be cast away into eternal darkness. The value and privileges that the Lord has bestowed on us, is so great - that it causes creatures in the spiritual realm to grow envious. To get a good idea on the position that Lucifer held, I would suggest you read (Ezekiel 12-19)

The TrinityFree Bible Coloring Pages - Exciting Bible Characters - The Idea Behind it:This illustration is based off the trinity concept when it comes to the Godhead. Now this is another daring illustration that I had drawn up being that there are so many different views when it comes to this subject. For me... as I see it, there is only one God and the trinity concept shows us the three different functions that He chooses to operate in when it comes to us the human being - Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Now I won't use this section of the website to get into the different opinions on the subject. Or Perhaps, I won't use any part of this site to do so either. For I know this subject has caused more division, than it has unity. NOTE: Although the word 'Trinity' is not in the Bible, the fact that the scriptures at times - refers to God as if He was a plurality of persons - can't be denied. (Psalms 110:1 - is one good example - out of many) Regardless of what our finite minds are capable of understanding when it comes to the infinite Almighty One. Bottom line is this -- God will still be God when we're all done with the useless arguing and debating sessions. In the picture you have: God the Creator - centered / Jesus Christ - on God's right The Holy Spirit - on God's left

Daniel and The LionFree Bible Coloring Pages - Exciting Bible Characters - The Idea Behind it:This illustration is based off the story of - The Prophet Daniel Daniel was a young (early teens perhaps) nobleman of Judah that was taken in the first deportation group during the 'captivity stage' of Jerusalem. He has been noted and recognized as the author of the book of Daniel. Although every book in the Bible is very important, the book of Daniel is extremely important when it comes to the book of Revelation. Most would say that it would be hard to a have some sense of understanding when it comes to the book of Revelation, without first having a general understanding of the book of Daniel. I had this picture done up as a light-hearted scene that's in reference to perhaps Daniel's most famous account - Daniel & the Lion Den - this record can be found in - (the sixth chapter of Daniel)

Samson the Young NaziriteFree Bible Coloring Pages - Exciting Bible Characters - The Idea Behind it:This illustration is based off the story of - Samson. Samson would become Israel's twelfth and final Judge in which he served for twenty peaceful years. He was a Nazirite who was born at the town called 'Zorah.' Samson was perhaps the most famous of the fourteen Judges? I would give him the nod over Gideon (Israel's fifth Judge) and the prophet Samuel (Israel's fourteenth Judge) Although Samson had many accomplishments, he was known to have a weakness for beautiful women. The most famous account would be his downfall, that came by the hands of a woman named -- Delilah. (Judges 16:4-31) This page deals with a light-hearted scene in which a young Samson is showing off in front of two pretty girls and is embarrassed when his mother catches him.

(Genesis 8: 6) Within this illustration you will see that the Raven was sitting outside the Ark when all of a sudden he gets hit with a really big raindrop. Needless to say, the raven did not like it. Just a fun perspective from the 'Noah's Ark Story', so the kids could have something nice to color.
