Moses & Aaron

The Gathering of the Elders

"So Moses told Aaron all the words of the Lord who had sent him, and all the signs which He had commanded him. Then Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel. And Aaron spoke all the words which the Lord had spoken to Moses. Then he did the signs in the sight of the people." -- Exodus 4:28-30

(Bible Study Online Article Covers : Exodus 4:28-31 ; 5:1)

Moving Forward?

In the last article we finally reached the point to where Moses had finally reunited with his brother Aaron at the Mountain of God, which is also known as (Mt. Horeb or Mt. Sinai).

We now begin to move forward and it's at this point, Moses and Aaron set out to meet up with the elders of the Israel people:

"So Moses told Aaron all the words of the Lord who had sent him, and all the signs which He had commanded him.

"Then Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel. And Aaron spoke all the words which the Lord had spoken to Moses. Then he did the signs in the sight of the people." -- Exodus 4:28-30

See how this passage confirms what the Lord had foretold to Moses earlier? Notice how Aaron now believed that his brother had truly been commissioned by the God of their forefathers. And it would be from this point forward that they would travel together, in order to go and gather the Israelite elders and prove to them as well.

And once again, just like the Lord had foretold, Moses would speak and do miraculous signs through his brother Aaron, and the elders believed as well: "So the people believed; and when they heard that the Lord had visited the children of Israel and that He had looked on their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshiped." -- Exodus 4:31

God Had Foretold This?

Remember what God had foretold Moses earlier:

"Go and gather the elders of Israel together, and say to them, 'The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared to me, saying, "I have surely visited you and seen what is done to you in Egypt; and I have said I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, to a land flowing with milk and honey.

"Then they will heed your voice; and you shall come, you and the elders of Israel, to the king of Egypt; and you shall say to him, 'The Lord God of the Hebrews has met with us; and now, please, let us go three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God.'" -- Exodus 3:16-18

A Transitioning Is Happening?

Now we move forward:

Moses and Aaron along with the Israelite elders went and requested an audience with the mighty Pharaoh. Their request was granted and the group of Israelite leaders came before the Egyptian ruler and spoke these words: "Thus says the Lord God of Israel: 'Let My people go, that they may hold a feast to Me in the wilderness." -- Exodus 5:1

Here we find for the first time that God is addressed within the Sacred Record as "the Lord God of Israel." This is only fitting, being that we are now witnessing a transitioning period from within the Sacred Record, when it comes to the way that the Lord will interact with those who have chosen to operate within His covenant.

The God of Israel?

Understand that up to this point, the Lord mainly dealt with individuals. And we were able to see how those individuals and their households benefited by serving the One True God. Because of this, should it not, be easy to see why He was called the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob?

Understand that He wasn't the god that the men of the world served, but He's the God that kept His Word unto those, whom He had made a special covenant with. And at this time, those who served in that covenant were few, but loyal, uncompromising and faithful. And because of this, they reaped an abundant blessed harvest.

Now that privilege will extend beyond the individual and their household for the time being. And the effects of that special covenant and the privileges that it brings will now be seen, and witness throughout an entire nation called Israel. Keep in mind that this is a nation that has yet to be freed from a world of bondage, persecution and affliction. We must not forget that God had made a special covenant, or a promise with Abraham when it came to the nation of Israel, and rest assure the Lord intends on honoring that covenant and keeping that promise.

The Same Is True For Us?

So the same holds true for us today, since we too, have a special covenant with the Lord, which is built on better promises: "But now He [Jesus] has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises. For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second." -- Hebrews 8:6,7

It would be a terrible mistake on our parts, to think that God won't honor the covenant that we're serving and operating in today. Do you not think that God won't fulfill His Word? Know that we are the children of God, royal heirs, recipients of a New Covenant that has been confirmed from the Heavens and sealed by the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.

And because of this, we are in a privileged position, which enables us, to reap those invaluable benefits that come from following the Son of God. The events that we are now witnessing throughout our journey, is God's testament to that fact.

In the next Bible Study Online Article:

As we travel farther into our next phase when it comes to the "Great Exodus." We finally come to the point from within our journey, to where we find Moses confronting the Mighty Pharaoh. Understand that there's so much within this next phase that if we're not careful, we could easily miss connecting with this Recorded event both naturally and spiritually.

We will approach this next phase by trying to stay focus, when it comes to tracking and seeing God within this whole ordeal. And we will try to avoid the mistake of getting too distracted by all the high drama that begins to take place at this moment within Israel's recorded history.

Remember that it's the high drama, coupled with the powerful miracles that keep people from being able to personally connect and extract the hidden treasure nuggets that are buried throughout this Record's context. Let's see if we can find as many of those nuggets as possible, so we can enrich ourselves spiritually and mentally.
