Why Choose Christianity

~~~
"The theories of men changed from day to day. Much that is taught new, will tomorrow; be in the discard, but the Word of the Lord will endure forever." -- Joseph F. Smith
"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." -- 2 Corinthians 4:18
First off, let me begin by saying, I believe that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. I also believe that He'd brought me back, from the brink of eternal damnation. I also hold true to the notion that the Bible clearly points this out. And this is one of the many reasons why I'll always stand with Christ and His blessed teachings, no matter what. Now I say "no matter what," because it doesn't matter if I don't quite understand everything, or that I may be a little confused at times, when it comes to the Word of God and the spiritual unveiling mysteries that the Scriptures are constantly presenting.
Perhaps this is why, I'll always find myself thanking God, when it comes to His sacred Scriptures! This is also why, I'm always trying to explore them whenever I get a chance.
For I must admit, the Lord's blessed Book, continues to teach me, how to take away the limits that the world has tried so hard to place on me.
For I know that the Bible has taught me, to look beyond what I can see naturally. And it's for this reason, I'm now learning how to grasp things that used to be so routine to me, more spiritually. I understand that when the natural passes, spiritual eternity will still exist. So personally, this is why I've come to the conclusion that it would serve me well, to invest in the things that will pay me dividends for the longest stretch. It just wouldn't make since to invest in things that are temporal, and not eternal. And it's for this reason that I'll continue to invest in God. For I rather stand with my Heavenly Father, instead of putting myself in a position of going against Him.
What About Science?
Now there are those who will quickly turn to things like science, whenever they are trying to present a case against Christianity. Now I'm not going to adopt a crazy viewpoint, and state that science is useless, and that its findings are wrong, especially when it comes to the inner workings of God's creation. For you see, by doing so, I like to think that would be absurd on my part. But just to be clear, I do believe that science is an application tool that God has given humanity. It's because of this tool, we are able to examine, learn, and extract from what God has created.
And honestly, it's in my opinion that science can not, and has not been able to provide the answers to spiritual questions, like "why do we really exist?" For you see, when it comes to this area, scientist are good at saying things like: "We are looking for that missing link, and we feel that we are close to finding it."
For I hold true to the notion that the people who are trying to give full credit to science, for the creation of all things, would be considered very limited minded people in my book. For they fail to understand that science limits them to things that can only be answered naturally, things that are temporal and finite.
Science does not, and cannot provide answers for the spiritual side of things -- things that are limitless and infinite. The only tool in my opinion that can come close to providing these type of answers, would be the Bible.
What Established Scientist Have Said
Here are what some noted scientist had to say, when it comes to God's Word:
Sir Isaac Newton: "We account the Scriptures of God to be the most sublime philosophy. I find more sure marks of authenticity in the Bible than in any profane history whatsoever."
Sir John Herschel: "All human discoveries seem to be made only for the purpose of confirming more and more strongly that the truths come from on high which are contained in the sacred writings..."
James Dwight Dana: "Young men, as you go forth, remember that I, an old man, who has known only science all his life, say unto you that there are no truer facts than the facts found within the Holy Scriptures."
Michael Faraday: "Why will people go astray when they have this blessed Book to guide them?"
Still Not Convinced?
And honestly, I could easily say that the main reason why I believe the way that I do, deals with knowing, or having a feeling from within me that tells me that I'm right. And I have no problem making such a statement, because I also know that Christ is resting deep from within my heart and mind. For I truly believe that He died on the cross, and because of this, has washed away my sins. For the Lord has redeemed and rescue me from an eternal death.
And although these are common reasons, when it comes to why most Christians believe the way that they do, honestly, it still wouldn't be enough proof for the naysayers here in the 21st Century. I like to think that it should be, but unfortunately, it's not. I could also say that I stand behind the Christian faith, because the movement has more followers, when compared to the current world religions. But unfortunately, I can honestly state that this would not be true. Not here in the 21st century.
The truth is, Christianity would be a distinct minority when compared to the different types of world religions that we currently have going on. The Muslims would quickly point this out to you, and without hesitation, being that to most polls, they have the fastest growing religion in the world.
Or perhaps I could say that I stand behind the Christian faith, because it's the oldest when compared to the current world religions. Well, yeah this could be debated. But the Confucian could also put up an argument, that Confucius revealed his teachings, centuries before Jesus was even born.
The Confucius Teachings Provides Limited Insight?
But when it comes to Confucius, know that his teachings are very limited, being that they didn't deal with having a direct relationship with the Master Creator. Also, the Chinese philosopher spiritual insight, was also severely limited, when it came to knowing that God had made mankind from within His own likeness and image.
But I'll be fair, and I'll let Confucius off the hook somewhat, especially when it comes to the topics that dealt with redemption and eternal salvation, being that he did come along, before Christ did. So he'll get a pass from my rants at this time, because he would not know about these things, unless the true Messiah (Jesus Christ) had revealed them to him.
What Makes the Bible So Different?
But on a more serious note, I want you to know that I have an unwavering confidence that I'm standing on a solid foundation when it comes to my Christian faith. And the foundation in which I speak of, deals with the Good Book that my Heavenly Father has left me. For you see, it's from within this Good Book, you'll find the greatest love letter that has ever been written to mankind. And just in case you didn't know, the Good Book that I'm referring to is the Holy Bible.
Why the Bible? Well for one, the Bible is unlike any other book that has ever existed. For it reveals the hidden treasures of the spiritual world, and provides infinite insight and wisdom that we can put in practice right now. Also there hasn't been any other book that has had such a universal impact on the world like the Bible has and continue to do.
The Bible is also a Book that wasn't written by one man. As a matter of fact, the Bible wasn't written by a group of men that had decided to come together at one particular time in order to do some type of literary project. No my friend, understand that the Bible was written from within different lands that had spanned over a time period of 1500 years. I also like to point out that during that 1500 year time period, the Bible would end up with sixty-six separate volumes, that over time, ended up being written by forty different God inspired authors.
Hold Up -- There's More
I also want you to know that the Bible would eventually be written from within three different languages -- languages that dealt with various topics that were being addressed from under very different situations. And yet, the Bible would still end up with a divine inspired context that has a certain type of unity. For this would be a type of unity that deals with things like: divinity, mystery, morals, poetry, drama, science, prophesy, and history that's unmatched by any other book.
On top of this, it would end up being the first Book that was put in print, at around 1450 A.D. When it comes to the Old Testament, know that it was started more than 3000 years ago. And as far as the New Testament, it goes back a little more than 2000 years ago. And in spite of this, the Bible is still the most popular book in today's modern times.
I also want you to know that the Bible has been translated into over a thousand different types of languages and dialects, which has transcended all national, and international boundaries. Because of this, all class of people have been given a chance to be, or have been, inspired by the Bible. And it doesn't matter if they're rich, poor, wise, simple, old or young.
Western Civilization -- Influenced By The Bible?
Now regardless of what people may say, the Western Civilization was founded on the Bible and it's teachings. Our calendar and most of its holidays came from the Bible. Which explains why great masterpieces, and movements from within societies from throughout the world that have been motivated and inspired behind the Word of God.
There have been artists like: Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, Michelangelo and others. There have been authors like: John Milton, John Bunyan, Shakespeare, Coleridge, Longfellow, Hawthorne, and many others. There have also been musicians like: George Frederic Handel, Johann Sebastian Bach, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Beethoven and many others.
Great structures have been built like: the St. Peter's Cathedral, Lincoln Cathedral, Rouen Cathedral, St. Mary's Church, and the Ulm Cathedral to name a few. Movements in history like: Missions, Social Reform, Education, English Common Law, Bill of Rights, United States Constitution, and The Reformation have also taken place behind the Bible.
100% Accurate when Dealing with Prophecies
I also want you to know that the Bible is the only Book that has been able to make unlikely predictions, especially when it comes to prophecy. And not only that, the Bible then turns around, and records the fulfillment of those very same prophecies. Make no mistake, the Bible has been 100 percent accurate, when it comes to those prophecies that have been recorded throughout its invaluable passages.
Also take note that there are thirty-seven Old Testament prophecies that talks about the Messiah in great detail. For these details deals with things that deals with: Jesus' birth, ministry, death, and resurrection while on earth. Now I also want to point out that these prophecies were spoken some 600 - 700 years before Jesus was even born.
I also want to point out that all thirty-seven prophecies that talked about Jesus' birth, ministry, death and resurrection, were eventually fulfilled by Him. Also when it comes to Josiah, Cyrus, Alexander the Great, John the Baptist, and Antiochus Epiphanes, along with many others, they all fulfilled prophecies that were foretold on them from within the Bible as well.
Also keep in mind that you've had prophecies that were foretold on nations like: Israel, Edom, Babylon, Media-Persia, Greece, Rome, Egypt, and Russia. All of these prophecies that were foretold on them from within the Bible, were also fulfilled.
There were also prophecies that were foretold on popular cities like: Tyre, Jericho, Nineveh, and Jerusalem. All of these prophecies that were foretold on them from within the Bible also came to pass.
The Bible Continues to Survive Persecution?
I also want to remind you that many people have tried to destroy this great Book, and in all honesty, continues to do so to this very day. You have had great philosophers like: Voltaire, Thomas Paine, and even Joseph Stalin, trying to destroy the Bible through their literature and misguided rhetoric.
You have also had: Kings, Emperors, and even Priests, that have tried to destroy this great Book. But you know what in spite of their efforts, these people have since died, and yet, the Bible still stands. People have given their lives, and continue to do so to this very day, because they refuse to deny, or give up Jesus Christ as their Savior.
I also want you to know that there hasn't been any other book that has been able to deliver such historical accuracy like the Bible. Yeah I know, many will find that statement somewhat funny, but there have been great scholars (even after intense studying and researching) ended up becoming aggressive defenders of this great Book.
Great scholars like:
Sir William Ramsey - A world renown Scottish archaeologist & chemist: "I take the view that Luke's history is unsurpassed in regard to it's trustworthiness...you may press the words of Luke in a degree beyond any historian's and they stand the keenest scrutiny and the hardest treatment."
William F. Albright - A world renown American archaeologist & philologist: "The reader may rest assured: nothing has been found to disturb a reasonable faith, and nothing has been discovered which can disprove a single theological doctrine...We no longer trouble ourselves with attempts to 'harmonize' religion and science, or to 'prove' the Bible. The Bible can stand for itself."
H.G. Wells - A world renown English novelist & journalist: "The Bible has been the Book that held together the fabric of Western civilization. The civilization we possess could not come into existence and could not have been sustained without it."
Thomas Carlyle - A world renown Scottish historian & essayist: "A Noble Book! All men's book!...grand in its sincerity, in its simplicity, and in its epic melody."
