God

Vs.

The Snake goddesses

~

Snakes & Rods

So we now discover that God is making his counter move against Pharaoh and the Egyptians. And this "move" that I just mentioned, would be a direct challenge at possibly "Wadjet the Snake goddesses" being that it would be Wadjet along with her sister Nekhbet that were being describe as the two winged-snakes that the Egyptians had looked to for protection during times of war.

(Bible Study Online Article Covers : Exodus 7:3-13)

Short Recap?

In the last article we took a brief look at what I like to call "the three fractured parts of humanity." I pointed how these three fractured parts were being represented by Noah's three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

I also pointed out how it would be through Shem's bloodline that God had chosen to reveal Himself through.

Also keep in mind that Abraham would eventually come from this bloodline as well.

Personally I find it interesting that "mankind" which is the highlight of God's creation, would constantly find itself at odds, with the One - who from the very beginning, had given it everything.

Nonetheless, if we were able to approach this account with a perspective that helps us, to be able to identify the human-race as being broken in "three fractured parts?"

There will Always Be That Part of Humanity?

We should be able to grasp hold to the notion that there will always be a part, or element of humanity that will always hold a belief that they can do better than the God that had created them.

And because of this belief, mankind will always be foolishly in search of a path that could bring them closer to their idea of what their purpose may be. But unfortunately for those who had chosen to reject the One True God - they will soon realize that eventually their time has run out and that the days of man and all the natural things that God had created, will ultimately come to an end.

And it would also be at this time that their eyes will finally be open within eternity, and all those who were willing to follow down a path that's filled with the finite philosophy, ideology and scientific theories of mankind - will finally be able to see where their chosen paths have eventually led them to.

Where Will Your Path Take You?

And make no mistake, those who'd decided to come into God's covenant that was made available through the blood sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ will find that their paths have led them to an eternal place that's pleasant and heavenly, while others who'd decided to stand against the One True God and follow the ways of man, will unfortunately find that their path has led them to a place that's quite the opposite from those who'd decided to come into God's covenant through the Lord Jesus Christ.

"But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man [unbeliever] also died and was buried. And being in torments in Hades [hell], he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

"Then he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.' But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented.'" -- Luke 16:20-25

Remember That Pharaoh Represents that Part of Humanity?

So this is what we have here with Pharaoh for he represents that part, or element of humanity that insists on doing things their own way. Understand that Pharaoh has now run out of time and the Lord has now made the decision to use Pharaoh and the false deities that he was serving, as an example, and warning to all those who had chosen to stand against the One True God:

"And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Egypt. But Pharaoh will not heed you, so that I may lay My hand on Egypt and bring My armies and My people, the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments. And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I stretch out My hand on Egypt and bring out the children of Israel from among them." -- Exodus 7:3-5

Moving Forward?

Howbeit, after Moses heard what God had to tell him, he and his brother Aaron decided to be obedient to the Lord: "Then Moses and Aaron did so; just as the Lord commanded them, so they did. And Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three years old when they spoke to Pharaoh." -- Exodus 7:6,7

And it would be at this time where we will find God instructing Moses and Aaron on what they were was suppose to do next: "Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, 'When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, "Show a miracle for yourselves," then you shall say to Aaron, "Take your rod and cast it before Pharaoh, and let it become a serpent."' So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, just as the Lord commanded. And Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent." -- Exodus 7:8-10

God Makes His Move?

It would be at this time, that we now discover that God is making his counter move against Pharaoh and the Egyptians. And this "move" that I just mentioned, would be a direct challenge at possibly "Wadjet the Snake goddesses" being that it would be Wadjet along with her sister Nekhbet that were being describe as the two winged-snakes that the Egyptians had looked to for protection during times of war. Wadjet and Nekhbet also provided extra protection for "Horus the Sky god" while he fought, or carried out a personal vendetta against another Egyptian deity that was known as "Seth the Storm god".

God Removes Egypt's So-called Protection?

Be that as it may, this so-called "protection" that was being provided by the snake goddesses of Wadjet and Nekhbet were also extended to the Egyptian royal family as well. Since history tells us that at the start of the "New Kingdom" or the "Eighteenth Dynasty" (which is where we are currently at in our journey) the Pharaohs had started wearing a crown that was known as a "Royal Ureas" (which resembled a serpent that was made in the honor of Wadjet the Snake goddess) and the Egyptian queens would wear depictions of snakes on their heads as well, which represented both Wadjet and Nekhbet.

However, we find that God is now attempting to show the Egyptians that their protection from their so-called deities is about to be challenged and removed. Take note on what happens next after Moses had instructed Aaron to cast down his rod, which would immediately become a snake: "But Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers; so the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. For every man threw down his rod, and they became serpents. But Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods." -- Exodus 7:11,12

Keeping It Simple?

Now let's take a closer look at the passage we'd just read, and notice how the Sacred Record reveals that the Egyptian: wise men, sorcerers and the magicians - had done the same thing with their rods. Now I'm not going to get into the silly debates, when it comes to "if they really did or didn't" or "that the word 'serpent' should have been translated to read 'crocodile' instead."

I don't know about you, but I'm voting to keep this simple. And with that being stated, let's just take the Sacred Record at its "Divine Word" - okay? Now keep in mind that when it comes to these Egyptian officials that Pharaoh had turned to when it came to providing a divine answer to what Moses and Aaron had just done with their rod... we must bear in mind that these men were very skilled when it came to the practice of sorcery and magic.

Bible Study Online

No Substance or Real Power?

I wonder, if it would be too hard to grasp the notion that they, as sorcerers and magicians, were able to create an illusion through that sorcery and magic that I'd just mentioned? Being that the practice of sorcery and magic would have brought them a skill, that they would've used, to make it seem like their rods had also turned into serpents, just like Moses' rod had done through Aaron. Like with most "magic tricks and shows", it shouldn't be too hard for one to see how these men would have been able to distract the watching audience with smoke and "light effects" that would have allowed them to be able to install the "trained pet snakes" in the place of their rods?

And as we can see, the Sacred Record reveals that these "serpents" that were brought forth by mankind were simply no match for the one serpent that was brought forth from the Almighty - they were at best, a "cheap imitation". This would explain why Moses' rod (serpent) was able to devour these men "pet snakes" so easily, for they had no substance, or real power to them - just like all things that the "ruling elite" tries to conjure up against the One True God and His followers.

The Limitations of Mankind?

Mankind is extremely limited, and their ideologies, scientific theories and philosophies, simply don't hold a candle to what the Almighty has to offer. Know that Humanity will never be able to replace, or outdo God. This is why Pharaoh had become so disappointed, even though his wise men, the sorcerers and the magicians were able to put forth a good effort, for he couldn't ignore the fact that their efforts were without substance and held no real power: "And Pharaoh's heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, as the Lord had said." -- Exodus 7:13

In the next Bible Study Online Article:

Pharaoh will soon learn that the One True God is far beyond magic tricks and simple illusions. He will also learn that God plays for keeps, and that the ramifications that one incurs for going against Him, are eternal. In the next article we will move forward and take a look at God's next counter move against Pharaoh, the Egyptians and their deities.

May God blessings be upon you, and thank you for your support
